Background Information
- Shanghai (View Photos)
Considered by many as the 'new epicentre of the business world', Shanghai is not only the financial capital of China, but also home to more than 150,000 expatriates and over 300 of the Forbes 500 companies. With a highly developed infrastructure, low cost of living and low tax rates, Shanghai has rapidly grown into a modern metropolitan paradise that offers residents and tourists alike an environment that is truly world-class and unforgettable. Merging the very best of both east and the west, Shanghai has it all: arts, entertainment and nightlife, restaurants, business, and sports, whatever you want, you most likely can find it in Shanghai. The school is located in the centre of one of the world’s most dynamic and fastest developing cities – Shanghai.
- The Schools
The schools we are working with are Cambridge International Centres in Shanghai authorised by University of Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) to teach A-level and IGCSE courses. Courses at the schools are carried out both in English and Chinese, directed by the CIE syllabus and using CIE approved teaching materials for all A-level and IGCSE subjects. To ensure that the students benefit from the essence of both eastern and western teaching methods and styles, the schools have both highly qualified foreign English-speaking teachers and Chinese bilingual teachers working together within each subject area. The leavers' destination includes the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge, Imperial College, London School Of Economics & Political Science, The John Hopkins University, University of Toronto, University of Waterloo, University of Melbourne, and National University of Singapore. All these outstanding results are a real credit to the schools' teachers and students' cooperative aspirations and efforts.
- A-Level in China
A-level – the General Certificate of Education Advanced Level is the 'gold standard' of CIE qualifications, and recognized by universities worldwide. Good A-level grades can be a key to admission into all of the world’s major Anglophone universities. In some countries, A-level qualifications can even earn students advanced credit, sometimes resulting in up to one full year of course credit. The A-level system is a new and expanding education area in China. The demand within China for this particular education system is growing at a very fast pace and the subsequent opportunities for career development for any committed and competent education professionals are huge.
